Common questions
Where is my artwork kept, and how do I back it up?
Everything you draw is stored on the iPad itself, in WingArtist's own folder. Open the Files app, go to On My iPad ▸ WingArtist, and you can copy artwork out to iCloud Drive or anywhere else you keep files. Settings ▸ Your artwork ▸ Show in Files takes you straight there.
I deleted the app and my drawings are gone.
iOS deletes an app's folder when you delete the app, and the artwork goes with it. If you only need to free up space, use Settings ▸ General ▸ iPad Storage ▸ WingArtist ▸ Offload App instead: that removes the app but keeps its files. Copies you made in the Files app are unaffected. We cannot recover artwork that was only on a deleted app, because we never had a copy of it.
How does AI Improve work?
Select part of your drawing, choose a suggestion or type your own instruction, and tap Improve. Only the selected part is sent, never the rest of the artwork. The result arrives on its own layer, so nothing you drew is painted over and a single undo removes it.
How many AI generations do I get?
Ten free, to try it. WingArtist Pro removes that limit, subject to a monthly fair-use cap that almost nobody reaches; if you do reach it, the app says so and the allowance resets on the 1st.
Can I use my own OpenAI account?
Yes. Bring Your Own Key is included with Pro, or available as a one-time unlock. Add your key in Settings ▸ WingArtist Pro; it is stored in your iPad's keychain and sent only to OpenAI, so generations are billed to your own account at OpenAI's rates.
I subscribed but the app still says I am out of generations.
Open Settings ▸ WingArtist Pro ▸ Upgrade to WingArtist Pro and tap Restore Purchases at the bottom of that screen, then try again. If it still refuses, force-quit the app and reopen it: your subscription is confirmed with our service the next time the app starts. If that does not fix it, write to us with the Apple ID region you purchased in.
Can I use my Procreate brushes?
Yes. .brush and .brushset files import directly: open the brush
library from Paint, tap the + in its corner and choose Import…. Brushes built on Procreate's own bundled textures come
across with a procedural stand-in for the texture, because those images are not included in the
exported file.
Which Apple Pencil features are supported?
Pressure, tilt and hover. You can reshape the pressure curve and set global stabilisation in Settings ▸ Apple Pencil, on top of each brush's own settings. Barrel roll is read on Apple Pencil Pro. Double-tap and squeeze are not used by the app yet.
What can I export?
PNG, transparent PNG, JPEG, TIFF, PDF and layered PDF, plus PNG sequence, animated GIF, APNG, MP4 and HEVC for animations and time-lapses.
Is the app available in my language?
WingArtist is translated into German, Spanish, French, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Turkish and Vietnamese, in addition to English. It follows your iPad's language automatically.
Privacy
Your artwork stays on your iPad, and AI Improve sends only the part of the canvas you selected. The full details are in the privacy policy.
